World number two Michael Smith suffered a heavy loss on the opening day of the Hungarian Darts Trophy, losing to Jonny Clayton.
Smith, who lost to Luke Littler in the World Series of Darts final in Amsterdam on Sunday, was defeated 6-3 by his Welsh opponent.
Clayton led by three legs in Budapest, hitting four 180s and averaging a score of 94.17, but Smith suffered a first-round defeat despite a brief fightback.
Creighton’s next opponent will be top seed and defending champion Dave Chisnall.
Peter Wright beat Joe Cullen in the final and will face Raymond van Barneveld, who beat Richie Edhuis 6-3 in the second round, while the Dutchman faces Ross Smith on Saturday.
Nathan Aspinall, James Wade and Andrew Gilding are also among those notable as first-round winners, while Michael van Gerwen, Luke Humphreys and Gerwyn Price begin their campaigns on Saturday.

Next up on the Sky Sports darts calendar is the Boyle Sports World Grand Prix in 2024.
The annual £600,000 prize pool tournament will take place at Leicester’s Mattioli Arena from 7-13 October, with 32 of the world’s best stars competing for the prestigious title, previously won by Luke Humphreys.
Humphries won his first TV ranking title with a win over Gerwyn Price at last year’s tournament, and the world number one will return to defend his title later this year.
Six-time winner Michael van Gerwen is also due to feature, while teenage superstar Luke Littler will make his Double debut for the East Midlands.
In a change from last year’s format, the semi-finals on Saturday, October 12th will be played as best of nine sets, with the final set being played as best of 11 sets on Sunday, October 13th.
