A Humble Games spokesperson also confirmed to Engadget that today’s restructuring won’t result in the company closing down, adding that current and upcoming projects will continue to be supported and published by the studio.
The layoffs at Humble Bundle are the latest in a series of moves spreading across the games industry, with studios of all sizes seeing a staggering number of job cuts over the last year, a trend that unfortunately continues into 2024.
“The games industry is unstable and full of people who only want rapid growth at the expense of great teams making great games,” Emily Kiefer, a former lead quality assurance analyst at Humble Games, wrote on LinkedIn after her layoff.

This indie publisher has helped bring to market approximately 50 video games, including notable hits such as: Knock down the spire, Unpacking, Wonder Song and Coral IslandHumble Games also had several upcoming game releases lined up, including: Never Alone 2The second will explore the myths and stories of the Native Alaskan Inupiat people.
“This decision was not made lightly and is the result of much thought and careful consideration, with the goal of ensuring stability and support for developers and their ongoing projects,” Humble’s statement said.
This business is separate from the charity store Humble Bundle, which is also part of Ziff Davis but does not appear to be affected by today’s news. We’ve reached out to Ziff Davis and Humble Games for more information and will update if we hear back.
