The Cleveland Guardians signed right-handed Tanner Bibby on a five-year contract with 2030 club options on Saturday.
Financial terms were not announced by the team, but Athletic reports that the transaction is worth at least $48 million.
Bibee is reportedly planning to make $21 million in 2029. If the Guardians got the option, he would have gone the same in 2030, increasing the value to $68 million. There is a $1 million acquisition.
The length of the transaction will purchase all seasons suitable for Bibee arbitration.
Bibee reportedly earns a $3 million salary this season and receives a $2 million signature bonus.
Bibee, 26, is scheduled to begin his first career opening day on Thursday, when the Guardian visited the Kansas City Royals.
Bibee is 22-12 with a 3.25 ERA at 56 will open over two major league seasons.
He was runner-up in the 2023 American League Rookie of the Year poll, making it 10-4 with 2.98 ERAs and 141 strikeouts in 2.98 innings and 25 starts and 141 strikeouts.
Last season, Bibee had a 3.47 ERA 12-8 and 187 strikeouts with 31 starts in 2/3 innings of 173. He was 0-1 ERA in the start of the four postseasons.
Bibee was his fifth pick in the 2021 draft. He pitched to college for California State Fullerton.
