Ahead of their new album release Patience, Tsukimi On Friday, great grandfather offered another preview, “Never Rest.” The track begins as a gentle ballad before reaching the climax, followed by previous cuts “Kid”, “Doom”, “Junior”, and “Ladybug”. Please check below.
“Never Rest” literally began as a babysitter to Pat and Carrie Goodwins’ son. “We all try to resonate with extremes, exist in our daily lives and express it through our singing journey,” Pat recalls, adding:
Truffles from Amsterdam. A bicycle at the Odyssey in southern Denmark. How do you become a parent? How do you make something for your child? I always loved trying to incorporate unusual modes into our music and felt that the drone/Lydian element brought tension and mental quality to this song of transformation. The amazing Jeremiah Moon contributed to the beautiful syrup cello parts that sold wobble seaworthiness and Journey psychedelia. George Martin exploited the movement of these drooping glissando strings for such a great effect in many of the Beatles’ more spiritual/psychedelic moments.
