Google Google made a slew of announcements at its “Made by Google” event at its Bay View headquarters on Tuesday, including the release of the Pixel Watch 3, a new smartwatch with machine learning-powered fitness and health tracking features.

of pixel Like its predecessor, the Watch 3 also has some fitness features, including tracking the wearer’s sleep, stress levels, oxygen, skin temperature, heart rhythm and other vital signs.

According to the company, these aspects of health are interconnected: activity and sleep affect recovery, and recovery affects how much activity a user can undertake.

of pixel The Watch 3 collects and combines all that data to give you a comprehensive, personalized profile, with the runner at the heart.

The new health features are designed to help runners manage their training and reflect on their progress and improvement.

The wearable device allows users to plan their routines and build their own workouts by adding segments, setting segment goals and creating intervals.

While the user is running, the device can be used as a coach, giving guidance to the wearer through audio and haptic cues.

The watch also allows for connectivity between devices, including gym equipment such as Peloton and NordicTrack.

Users can follow Google Maps Offline Control media playback right from the workout screen without having to hunt for options.

The tech giant also says that with new upgrades to its sensing technology, the Pixel Watch 3 will have the most accurate heart rate sensing technology on the market for runners.

HR monitoring utilizes machine learning to track a user’s heart rate and capture the wearer’s running form. The device can also analyze the wearer’s form and dynamics, including cadence, stride length, stride height and ground contact time.

After training, users can view their performance metrics and get insights on how to improve their fitness.

The watch analyzes and correlates the intensity of your training and your need for recovery.

To determine if a user needs recovery time, the watch looks at three biometric data points: heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and sleep. The device then provides a composite score that indicates how prepared you are for a training load.

And for those who actively train and seek guidance, there’s a new metric called Cardio Mode, which tracks heart exercise during activities and daily life, giving the wearer a complete overview of their training status.

The Pixel Watch 3 also includes a metric called Target Mode, allowing users to receive personalized insights into whether their body is ready for more training or if they need time to rest and recover.

Fitbit Morning Brief is another feature added to the watch that brings together health information to provide the wearer with a readiness score at the start of the day – sleep quality, tracking data against a weekly activity goal, goal load, and the day’s weather.

Additionally, the watch comes equipped with pulse loss detection, which checks an individual’s pulse – if no pulse is detected, the watch will call emergency services and send an automated message to alert the operator.

It also has an auto-sleep mode that automatically detects when the wearer falls asleep and turns off notifications. If the user wakes up, the watch will detect that and automatically exit sleep mode.

The Pixel Watch 3 comes in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm, and the display is twice as bright as the previous watch at 2,000 nits, and can dim down to 1 nit in darkroom conditions.

The new device has a 35% larger battery at 45mm, longer battery life and an improved battery saving mode that lasts up to 36 hours, and the watch also charges 20% faster than the previous version.

The Pixel Watch 3 with a 41mm screen will retail for $349 with WiFi capability and $449 for the LTE version, while the 45mm Pixel 3 will retail for $399 with WiFi capability and $449 for the LTE version.

Additional Offerings

Google also announced that Gemini Live, its generative AI-intelligence chatbot, will be integrated into its new Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL smartphones. With Live, users can have free-flowing conversations with the AI chatbot.

Still, the tech giant said there are limitations to relying on Live’s conversational AI answers.

“We are very clear and upfront that Gemini should not be relied upon for medical, legal, financial or other professional advice. Content on these topics is for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for qualified professional advice. Gemini Live has the same safeguards against providing in-depth medical guidance as the main Gemini app experience,” a Google representative said. MobiHealthNews.

Additionally, the company unveiled an updated camera system with new features for its Pixel smartphones, including an “Add Me” option that combines Google’s augmented reality platform with 15 in-device AI models.

“Add Me,” which will be previewed this year, will allow users to take photos and exchange them with others.

The device’s AR guides the photographer in arranging the scene, and once a second photo is taken, the technology merges the two photos to create a composite image with everyone in one photo.

The company also announced an AI-enabled image generator called Pixel Studio, which allows users to create and adjust visuals by inputting a description of what they want to see.

The Pixel 9 will start at $799, the Pixel 9 Pro at $999, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL at $1,099.

The company also unveiled the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which offers a premium design and is the thinnest foldable smartphone on the market, retailing for $1,799.

The tech giant announced the launch of its first earbuds with Gemini integration, the Pixel Buds Pro 2. This integration makes the product the first device to take Gemini outside of the phone. The Buds Pro 2 will retail for $229.

Consumers can pre-order all upcoming products starting August 13th.
