Oh dear. Things aren’t going so well for Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, who campaigned for Republican culture war populist Donald Trump on Labor Day only to be drowned out by boos and chants of the 2024 Democratic slogan, “We’re not going back!”
“Buena Vista, Virginia is not a place where you often see a strong Democratic presence during election season, but that was not the case today at the Labor Day parade. Look at Glenn Youngkin, who is campaigning for Trump.“They were booed and drowned out by chants of ‘There’s no turning back!'” Aaron Fritschner, a spokesman for Virginia for Harris, wrote on Twitter.
(Note: Please watch all three videos. The first one just sets the stage for what’s to come.)
Buena Vista, Virginia, isn’t necessarily a heavily Democratic city during election season, but that was different at today’s Labor Day Parade.

Governor Youngkin became agitated and told the protesters to move to the other side because they were on the “right” side, to which the protesters responded by chanting “USA! USA! USA!”
I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Labor Day than watching the great hopes of the Republican Party turn sour and the man upon whom Glenn Youngkin’s post-Trump dreams rest be drowned out by cries of “We’re not going back!” and “USA! USA! USA!”
The Democrats have become the party of vocal patriotism, based on serious national security policy (as opposed to nationalism) and individual liberty. In other words, this change has upset the Republican Party, which owns the flag, is the loudest people everywhere, and is accustomed to drowning out the voices of the Democrats with a tea bag on its head.
Apparently not anymore. The Republican Party has been pigeonholed into narrow pro-authoritarian, anti-liberty camps by the animated glee shown by the other side at nearly every turn in the last month.
