Two new species of the genus Kwoncan (Migaromorpha: Anamidae) in the Kimberly region of Western Australia
Abstract
Trapdoor Spider Kwonkan Main, 1983 (Anamidae) currently contains 12 species. Members of the genus are unusual among the Anamidae family in altering the entrance to the burrow with turrets and collars. The genus is spread throughout the arid regions of Australia, with many species being described, particularly in Western Australia. Here we have Kwonkan Fluctellus sp. November. and Kwonkan nemoralis sp. November. From the North Kimberly Bioregion. All specimens of the latter species were collected in 2022 on the Bushblitz expedition. These represent the first species of the genus described from northern Australia.
