Florian Wirtz hopes to join Liverpool in discussions with Bayer Leverkusen about a potential club record deal.
Leverkusen wants a deal that cherishes its £120 million player. Wirtz, along with his German squad, is preparing for the international league semi-finals against Portugal in Munich.
Bayern Munich and Manchester City are attempting to sign the 22-year-old, who was one of the most impressive performers in the Bundesliga last season.
Wirtz, who spent his entire senior career with Leverkusen, scored 10 goals and registered 12 assists in 25 starts, finishing Bayern Munich’s runner-up and earned a league and cup double.
The UK record transfer fee is now £115 million, which Chelsea paid Brighton to Moises Caseco in 2023.
Frimon is not torrent, but it can thrive
There was no hope of finding a similar alternative to Trent Alexander Arnold. He is a unicorn and a fullback like no other. But perhaps Arne Slot didn’t want a similar alternative. Jeremie Frimpong brings a variety of qualities.
The release clause for Frimpong’s Bayer Leverkusen agreement is set at £29.5 million, which represents Liverpool’s value. This is the 24-year-old player who has achieved great results after three huge successes in the Bundesliga seasons.
Julian Ward, technical director at Liverpool, has a mantra on recruiting. His belief is that a new signature should ideally build a career before a Liverpool career. Frimon has been a key part of Lebakusen’s double victory side.
There is hope that he can adapt quickly. When born in Amsterdam and the Netherlands International, Frimon grew up in the northwest of England. For ease of commuting, you simply choose the Manchester City Academy over Liverpool.
