Paramount+’s Star Trek: Lower Decks, which has enjoyed unparalleled success as a sweeping portrayal of the lives of the unsung junior members of the crew of the USS Cerritos, will be returning for its fifth and final season. As the official publisher of “Star Trek” comics, IDW Publishing has heard fans’ cries of grief over the loss of the irreverent animated show, and has announced a new, ongoing “Star Trek: Lower Decks” comic series written by Ryan North. is scheduled to be distributed this month. Illustrated by artist Derek Charm.
This special format shows a rotating roster of artists and stories for each issue, starting with the debut issue on November 13, 2024, with Charm drawing the first story.
The official synopsis is as follows:
“In the wake of their Eisner Award nomination for “Shaxx’s Best Day,” a tie-in with “Lower Decks,” the talented duo of Ryan North and Derek Charm are back to work on a super fun adventure on a big fun ship. begins the latest ongoing series that is… where Dr. Tana saves the crew from a virulent purple-swollen disease that is definitely — wait, no, everyone will be cured soon.
“Okay…Deep Space 2’s distress signal was mysteriously disconnected and the crew just needed help resetting the communications system.
“Okay, Mariner is completely frustrated by the lack of thrills on the Cerritos and drags his friends on a holodeck adventure that would definitely kill them in real life! It’s supposed to totally provide a sense of purpose and happiness for everyone. Yeah. Right?
“Or at least it would have been, if the USS Bonaventure hadn’t come back from the Delta Triangle and given them a real challenge. Time to explore the ghost ship, baby!”
