Mario Alegre Barrios (Press Director) shares the opening of a collective exhibition to be held today at the Museum of History, Anthropology and Arts Museums on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025 at 7pm EST. [El Museo de Historia, AntropologÃa y Arte] At the University of Licorio Piedras Puerto Rico. He writes:
“Gráfica Vital” presents a sampling of Puerto Rican prints with around 90 works by 73 artists from the 1950s to the present. The exhibition is based on a selection from the museum’s robust collection of Puerto Rican prints, highlighting a wide range of printing techniques, from traditional to experimental and digital.
At the same time, the exhibition affirms the important role of prints in the development of Puerto Rican art, highlighting artistic expression as a tool for cultural memory and resistance. We promote reflection and dialogue on past and present, our identities and contemporary challenges through ten theme sections: “El Duelo de La Perdida”, “Image Y Parabra”, “Consecian Politica”, “Miradus Criticus”, “Figrasions Intima”, “Dualidad De Ra”, “Radisiones de la urbe”, “Paisaje”, “abspas etractionasas” – “Dualidad del ser”.
Events associated with the exhibition include guided tours by experts, discussions with artists, and art workshops. Guided tours and mini-workshops are also offered to booked groups. The first guided tour of the exhibition will take place on Tuesday, March 25th at 7pm with Curator and Museum Director Flavia Maricharlugo.
The Museum of History, Anthropology and Art are located at the University of Puerto Rico’s Rio Piedra Campus, with stairs from the city station. Parking is located at Plaza Universitari Multi Story Garage.
