Bayer Leverkusen has appointed former Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag as head coach as the replacement for Xabi Alonso.
The 55-year-old Dutch signed a contract with Bundesliga Club until June 2027.
Ten Hag inherited the team that finished second behind Bayern Munich at Bundesliga, reaching the German Cup semi-finals after winning both competitions at Alonso the previous year.
Alonso left to take over as Real Madrid coach and replaced Carlo Ancelotti, who was in charge of the Brazilian national team.
This is Ten Hag’s first job since he was fired as United coach in October 2024.
He won two domestic cups in two and a half years at Old Trafford, but was fired in four losses in nine league matches after the start of the club’s worst season.
