Eddie Hearn highlights how Tyson Fury’s three-month marriage ‘sacrifice’ could impact Oleksandr Usyk fight

Tyson Fury is aiming for an unparalleled level of concentration ahead of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on December 21st. The two previously met in a match for the undisputed heavyweight title on May 18th. Fury lost a close split decision, the first loss of his career.

Ahead of the rematch, “The Gypsy King” said he had not spoken to his wife in three months as part of his preparation plan for the Ukrainian fighter. Fury’s confession caught fans off guard, leading them to speculate that his decision to isolate himself from his family may have backfired.

But leading boxing promoter Eddie Hearn believes it could have the desired effect. The Matchroom Boxing chairman was recently interviewed on iFL TV ahead of Usyk vs. Fury 2 and spoke about the Briton’s comments about not being in touch with his wife.

Mr Hahn said:

“Everyone’s different. When he got that loss, maybe he’s not letting anything go. He’s just saying, ‘I’m going to put everything into this training camp.'” Stepping into the ring Do you think knowing that you’ve made great sacrifices, sometimes terrible sacrifices, gives you more strength in the fight? I think the answer is yes. ”

Tyson Fury recently appeared in public practice ahead of his anticipated rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on December 21st. The former WBC champion has already shared a cold preview of what fans can expect from the upcoming fight, and he continued in the same vein during an interview at public practice.

Fury did not directly answer the interviewer’s questions, instead speaking about his intentions for tonight’s fight.

“Significant pain…damage from hitting…considerable scars…injuries, serious injuries…considerable damage.”
