Former President Joe Biden’s office said Sunday that 82-year-old Biden was diagnosed with prostate cancer last weekend, but doctors suggest that, given the progression of the disease, Biden and his doctors have known the diagnosis for years now.
Dr. Ezekiel Emmanuel, an oncologist who served in President Obama’s administration and joined the Biden administration, said it was likely that Biden had prostate cancer at the start of his 2021 presidency.
“This is not speculation. If you have prostate cancer that spreads to your bones, he most certainly said it when he was the president of the United States,” MSNBC host Joe Scarborough asked Emmanuel in an interview Monday.
“Yeah, he didn’t develop it in the last 100 or 200 days,” replied the oncologist. “He had it while he was president. He probably had it at the start of his presidency in 2021.”
Dr. Kevin O’Connor, a urologist who served as a doctor for President Biden, has been appointed president. Clean health In February 2024, he ran for reelection.

“Prostate cancer is the easiest cancer to diagnose when it first starts and sees it progress to bone metastasis,” wrote Dr. Steven Quay, a physician and medical inventor who founded the Seattle-based company Atossa Therapeutics, in a post on X Sunday.
“PSA blood tests show the growth rate of cancer cells. It’s a five- to seven-year journey, even in the most aggressive form, not treated before it spreads,” Key pointed out. “So it would be difficult for this patient to appear and be diagnosed with metastatic disease for the first time in 2025.”
Quay suggested that Biden and his doctors had known about the disease years ago, but they hid it from the Americans.
“It is highly likely that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer during his tenure at the White House, and the American people were not informed,” he concluded.
Biden’s office claimed that the diagnosis came on Friday.
“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen in a new discovery of prostate nodules after experiencing an increase in urinary symptoms,” the office said.
“On Friday he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and will feature a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” the statement continued. “While this represents a more aggressive form of disease, cancer appears to be hormone sensitivity that allows for effective management. The president and his family are reviewing treatment options with their doctors.”
Former White House doctor, R-Texas, Rep. Ronnie Jackson, suggested that White House doctors focused more on covering up Biden’s condition than helping the president recover.
“It’s sad and unfortunate. I hope the former president is the best in treating this cancer,” Jackson wrote on X. “I think I’m sure I’m the best in care at the White House.”
“This was incredibly overlooked, but the truth is that his doctors were more concerned about supporting political cover-up than providing world-class medical care,” he added.

Dr. Howard Forman, Professor of Radiology Yale School of Medicineposted to X, “I can’t imagine this not following before I left the presidency.”
“Gleason Grade 9 would have had an elevated PSA levels for some time prior to this diagnosis,” Forman wrote. “And he must have had PSA tests many times before. This is odd. I hope he has a lot of opportunities to maximize his quality of life.”
