Daniel DuBois says he will not be “denied” in his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk and believes he is the champion to “take over” the heavyweight division.
USYK will defend the WBC, WBO and WBA world heavyweight titles against IBF champion DuBois on July 19th at Wembley Stadium.
DuBois has been in red hot form, beaten Anthony Joshua, Philip Hilgovich and Jarrell Miller since halting to Usyk in his first fight in 2023, and the 27-year-old believes he will soon be crowned crowned as the new world No. 1.
“Fireworks, it’s going to be a bomb at night,” DuBois told Sky Sports.
“I’ll become the bomb thrower and I’ll go through anything I have to come. I’ll never be denied.
“I think he is the best guy. He is one of the best ranks in the world, but I think it’s my time now. You know I’m a young lion here. I’m a real power, a new power in the department, and I’m going to take over.
“Preparation, preparation, fight, destruction, yeah.”
DuBois returns to his biggest victory scene, Joshua’s fifth round knockout last September.
The Londoners aim to emulate Lennox Lewis by becoming the UK’s indisputable world heavyweight king.
“I’m in a good place,” DuBois said. “I’m on a good level myself, physically and mentally. I’m ready to go to a guy.
“It’s going to be a massive event. It’s going to be a global, worldwide, everyone will adjust it – I can’t wait, that means a lot to me.
“We’ll find a way [to keep emotions in check]. My dad manages it pretty well, it’s a good team so I’m going to be very zoned and focused. I work and try to keep nothing in the way.
“It means the world. It means conquering everything the sport has to offer at the top of the game. It’s all about not being controversial in boxing.”
