Lourdes Gariel Jr., Gabriel Moreno, Alec Thomas Holred and Corbin Carroll hit a pair of RBI triples, and the Arizona Diamondbacks pulled away from the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday for a 10-3 victory at Phoenix.
Moreno hit a 3-run Homer to ignite 6th place with a five-run homer after missing the previous three games in a right-handed Continue. Carroll added his second triple and scored to score sixth place with a 9-2 lead.
Carroll has his second two triple games of the season, leading the majors with eight. Arizona’s Ketel Marte extended his bass streak to 23 games with one and two walks.
Randy Arozarena also played home and singled for the Mariners, who lost seven of the eight. Giulio Rodriguez, Cole Young and Jorge Polanco each had two hits.
Thomas, who was home for the eighth time, took two singles and one walk, earning four runs from the ninth spot. Gurriel and Josh Naylor each scored two hits in the D-back.
D-Backs’ right-hander Brandon Pfaadt (8-4) gave up two runs and nine hits in five or more innings, leaving after Arozarena scored a 435-foot homer from sixth and Teres continued his 440-foot explosion. Pfaadt hit a 4 and walked 1.
In a statistical quirk, PFAADT is tied to San Francisco’s Robby Ray for an NL lead in victory, but continues among the 37-qualified starters with ERA 5.50. Pfaadt gave up 14 runs (13) in three innings, combined with the previous two starts.
Seattle’s Logan Evans (3-2) scored four runs with 7 hits in five innings and four hits, with five strikeouts and two walks. He was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday and got off to the start after placing Bryce Miller (elbow) on the list where the Mariners were injured.
Arizona’s Bryce Jarvis threw three innings of a one-run ball for a career save in the day.
Mariners catcher Callowry, who leads the majors with 26 homers, had the chance to get left fielder Gurious to take the No. 27 in three innings. Laurie hit a deep fly into the opposite field where Gulliel caught his leap on the fence. Laurie has nine homers in his final 13 games.
Carol ran and scored for the third lead on Gerald Perdomo’s sacrifice fly. Gurriel hit his 10th Homer on a 3-0 edge on the fourth home run, while Naylor doubled in the running with his fifth 4-0 advantage.
