DETROIT — Cade Cunningham scored the winning goal with 8.5 seconds left to complete his third consecutive triple-double and the Detroit Pistons defeated the Atlanta Hawks 122-121 on Friday night.
Cunningham had 22 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds. Malik Beasley and Tobias Harris also scored 22 points for Detroit.

Cunningham tied Grant Hill for the longest triple-double streak in franchise history. This was Cunningham’s fifth career triple-double, tying him with Isiah Thomas for second in franchise history.

Trae Young gave the Hawks their first lead of the game at 121-120 with 12.5 seconds left. But Cunningham drove in traffic and made a hook shot to put Detroit in the lead again.
Young then drove to the basket and dished the ball to Onyeka Okongwu, but Cunningham blocked the shot and time expired.

Young had 35 points and 13 assists. Atlanta’s Jalen Johnson scored 20 points.
The Hawks trailed by as many as 24 points in the first half, but Dyson Daniels’ floater goal tied the game with 3:36 left.
Harris responded with a 3-pointer, and after a dunk by Okongwu, Jaden Ivey’s 3-point play made it 120-116 with 2:31 left.

Hawks: Atlanta didn’t give Young much help until the final drive. In the fourth quarter, he scored 10 points and had 7 assists.
Pistons: Detroit built a big lead in the first half with little help from their best player scoring. Cunningham had seven rebounds and nine assists in the first half, but was limited to just two points on 1-of-6 shooting.
