The list of College Football Playoff winners dates back to the 2015 championship game. All winners and scores are listed below. Since its introduction in place of the BCS (Bowl Championship Series), the College Football Playoff (CFP) has been the definitive answer to the controversy the BCS brought to award a single winner at the FBS level of college football. In 2024-25, the playoff will expand to 12 teams for the first time, with the potential to expand further in future seasons.

- 2014-2015In the first-ever College Football Playoff, Ohio State defeated Oregon, 42-20, to earn the No. 4 seed. Ohio State won behind star running back and Dallas Cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott.
- 2015-2016: Alabama loses by a narrow margin Clemson A high scoring game, 45 to 40.
- 2016-2017Clemson got revenge on Nick Saban and Alabama won 35-31 after Deshaun Watson led the Tigers on a drive in the final minutes to win the game.
- 2017-2018: Alabama is back again, this time in an SEC game. The Crimson Tide beat Georgia 26-23 in overtime. Tua Tagovailoa led Alabama to the win.
- 2018-2019: They’ll face Alabama again, but this time Trevor Lawrence will lead Clemson to a crushing 44-16 victory. Lawrence has played for the Jacksonville Jaguars since graduating from college.
- 2019-2020: This time, Clemson is in the finals again, and current Cincinnati Bengals star Jeff Burrow led LSU to a 42-25 victory.
- 2020-2021Alabama returned to the Finals with star wide receiver DeVonta Smith catching multiple passes to lead the team to a 52-24 win over Ohio State.
- 2021-2022Georgia finally broke through, beating Alabama 33-18.
- 2022-2023: This is their second year playing Georgia. They beat TCU by the biggest margin in CFP history, 65-7.
- 2023-2024: The finals will actually be played without any SEC teams, with Michigan beating Washington 34-13.
