Los Angeles Lakers center Christian Koloco has received medical clearance to return after being sidelined for more than a year due to blood clot issues, ESPN reported Tuesday.
He reportedly received the OK from the NBA’s Fitness to Play Committee and is scheduled to begin practicing with the Lakers this week.

Koloco, 24, will miss the entire 2023-24 season with the Toronto Raptors after he was released in January. He signed with the Lakers on September 16th.

The 7-foot-1 Cameroon native played in 58 games (19 starts) for the Raptors as a rookie in 2022-23, averaging 13.8 minutes, 3.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.0 blocks. Toronto selected him in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2022 draft out of Arizona State.

Koloco could provide frontcourt depth behind All-Star starter Anthony Davis. The Lakers’ backup center is former NBA lottery pick Jackson Hayes, who is currently in his second season in Los Angeles after spending four seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans. –Field level media
