The Vancouver Canucks agreed to terms with goaltender Arturs Sirovs on a two-year contract on Tuesday.
Sirovs, 23, posted a 3-0-1 record with a 2.47 goals-against average and .881 save percentage with the Canucks in 2023-24.
He also appeared in 34 games with the AHL affiliate Abbotsford, posting 16 wins, 11 losses and six draws with a 2.74 ERA and .907 save percentage.
“Arturs continued to develop as a goaltender last year which helped us greatly,” general manager Patrick Albin said. “We expect him to come into training camp and compete for a full-time position with a big club. Our group will continue to work with him to hone his skills and provide him with all the tools he needs to take another step forward in his young career.”
Terms of the Latvian player’s contract were not disclosed, but reports have put his average annual salary at $850,000.
Vancouver drafted Sirovs in the sixth round in 2019, and Sirovs made his NHL debut in the 2022-23 season, posting a record of three wins, two losses and zero draws with a 2.75 ERA and a .908 save percentage.
