Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams scored four touchdowns in a 35-16 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and his performance was featured on Sky Sports. Jason Bell said: “It was an honor to see it.”
Williams becomes the third quarterback to throw four TDs in an International Series game in London, joining Tom Brady (2012) and Blake Bortles (2017), and the first Bears rookie to throw four TDs in a game since 1999. He became the first player to achieve that goal.
Williams, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, became the second rookie quarterback to win a game in London, with Bell calling the 22-year-old “special.”
“It was an honor to see him,” he said. “He was spot on.
“We know this guy has talent – we talked about it all throughout the draft – but as a rookie, sometimes you struggle.
“It’s all about making things happen, planning plays, deceiving and you saw him take advantage of that.
“He makes things look very easy, but that’s because of his command of this offense. He can make shots with pinpoint accuracy.”

Bell added: “It’s very difficult for young quarterbacks, especially high draft picks, but we expect a lot from them.
“If you give them time, if you give them sympathy and compassion, their talent will flourish. That’s exactly what’s happening.”
The Williams-inspired victory was Chicago’s third straight of the season, improving its record to 4-2 on the year, and the Bears rookie himself said he is benefiting from the increased comfort in the league.
In his postgame press conference, Williams was asked what credit he took for his success after backing up his 300-yard performance in a four-TD win over the Carolina Panthers last week in London.
“I think the offensive line, the coaching, the leadership of this team, the constant mindset to keep moving forward and believing in each other, that’s what I give credit to,” he responded.
“I think I’ve seen that a lot throughout the process over the last few games.
“It starts throughout the week, watching film, practicing, talking to the coaches and players.
“Obviously, you study and watch and everything else, but once the ball is snapped, you have to understand what you have to do and have confidence in it.
“The important thing is to have a comfort level playing football, a feel for the game.”

Cole Kmet accomplished everything on this play, scoring a touchdown before entering the game as the backup long snapper for the Chicago Bears.
Bears third-year head coach Matt Eberflus also had plenty of praise for his rookie quarterback after the game.
“I always look at QBR. [quarterback rating]and it was good, again in the 120s,” he told reporters. We would like progress to be linear, but that’s not always the case.
“But we feel he took a step in the right direction and our football team took a step in the right direction of playing complementary football.
“In terms of talent and things like that, he’s always been good enough. But he’s learning the game, he’s learning our offense, he’s learning the skill sets that our players have and how to take advantage of that. is doing a good job of that.”

The Jaguars will remain in London to take on the New England Patriots at Wembley Stadium, making it their second consecutive game in England. Meanwhile, Chicago enters a bye week before visiting the Washington Commanders in Week 8.
