- dry ingredients – Make a versatile quick bread by adding all-purpose flour, baking powder, a little sugar (optional), and salt. A gluten-free all-purpose flour mixture works well.
- butter – Not only does it add flavor and richness, but it also keeps the biscuits moist and soft. I use unsalted butter, but you can also use salted butter by reducing the amount of salt.
- buttermilk – The acidity increases the rising power of baking powder. Higher fat content produces softer, moister butter biscuits. Whole milk etc. homemade buttermilk also works.
How to make butter biscuits
