Bloodborne is my favorite software game. I’m afraid of the switch 2 on duskbloods

I’m not the biggest player in the Tard Toughs Souls game from fromSoftware, not the long shot. I dabbled in a remake of the original Dark Souls and the Devil’s Souls, conquering the land between Eldenling. But I can tell you something: There’s no one PlayStation game that means more to me than the PS4-only title Bloodborne.

From the horrifying streets of Yharnam to the Tenebrous Floating Islands, which make up most of the nightmare frontier, there are few games that capture the frustration of space and the soft Gothic action RPGs. The interconnected layers of the world are moving my heart, and the rich lore that connects old gods, ancient humans, and modern healing churches feels straight torn from the story of HP Lovecraft.

This story is part of Nintendo Switch 2a collection of everything related to Nintendo’s next-generation gaming consoles.

When Duskbloods appeared on Switch 2 Nintendo Direct, my heart got caught in my throat.

There was the introduction of characters about the established shots of the clocktower and the moonlight, as well as player characters, a group of monster hunters who “transcended human strength thanks to their special blood” – I It wasn’t the only one We fed it, believing this was a bloodborne sequel that we all had been waiting for for ten years.

When more Steampunk-y elements started to appear (the jetpack and automatic firearms weren’t on my bingo card), I settled a bit to make sure this project wasn’t directly connected to my favorite Software game. The Duskbloods aesthetic is still appealing to me. So I was excited to see what the game was about.

I doubt this is not a game for me as details of the latest FromSoft games are flowing.

Players and players from the software games do not inspire confidence in me

Droping eight players into the giant mosh pits in legally different Yharnam might sound fun for some people, but that’s not my idea of good time.

Nintendo

Your average Soulsbourne game is an epic single-player experience that encourages players to exploit the strengths of their characters to overcome unforgiving challenges. They are, most importantly, long and tough campaigns, a dark, unknown solo quest.

If you can commit to learning enemy attack patterns, properly attribute your stat points and finding ways to master the game’s combat, then you can conquer the legendary knights and towering monsters that the game throws at you.

Sometimes players will invade your world and for 5 minutes the gameplay loop will revolve into a simulator that dodges chicken fight hack-and-slash or spells until you win or die. In my eyes, these are some of the lower points in Asoft games.

Compare it with duskbloods. This is a “pvpve” experience of eight players attacking players not only monsters across the map, but also players on each other.

There is no single player mode seen in the game. This is not a collaborative experience with more threatening soul challenges, at least as far as we know. FromSoftware is always likely to sneak PVP elements into the Elden Ring spinoff to make these games do the same thing we doubt.

Duskbloods forces players to PVP combat and I have never enjoyed it from Soft’s PVP brand. No matter how cool you find in the trailer, you can’t be excited about essentially a soft battle royale. It’s not the style of the game that many soul fans are used to, I think the sudden changes in gameplay are very marginalised.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some parts of this game that sound absolutely thrilling. Software Director Miyazaki Hidetaki revealed that not all matches are knockdown dragout free for all.

“Players may team up to defeat powerful boss enemies or find themselves in other special situations,” Miyazaki said. An interview on Nintendo’s website. In fact, some of the game’s character customizations involve selecting the type of goal the player wants to commit during the match.

“In online play, roles often give players special responsibility and goals, leading to unique interactions and relationships between players based on their corresponding roles.” Miyazaki said. “[One] An example is “Fateful Companion.” One player must search for another player designated as a companion.

I’m pleased that I have a great focus on providing some sort of cooperative experience with Duskbloods, but the forced PVP action threatens to keep me away from the game. Like most of the old Souls games from Fromsoftware, I tagged my friends for boss fights in Bloodborne, but the main quest was, in important respects, a solo journey.

Of all the games from FromSoft and Nintendo partner, why Duskbloods?

Duskbloods-Coop-Experience

The fact that the first multiplayer-only souls game in software is Switch 2 is what makes me scratch my head.

Nintendo

Some software fans have expressed their anger online that Duskblood will only appear on Switch 2. Frankly, I don’t mind partnering with Nintendo to create an exclusive game for the latter new console.

In the early accounts, this is much more powerful hardware than the original iteration of the console. If Switch 2 is able to run Eldenring or Cyberpunk 2077 (although 40 frames per second, even when docking), then it is possible that Duskbloods will run perfectly fine. This is not an exact matter for me as I fell in love with Bloodborne while Bloodborne was playing at 30 frames per second.

What I don’t follow is One game fromsoft has chosen to partner with Nintendo. While switching online is better than other Nintendo stab wounds when promoting an online multiplayer experience, it’s one of my biggest problem points on the console.

Frustratingly, many Switch games use peer-to-peer connections instead of dedicated servers. And since FromSoft has done the exact same thing historically, there are no details about Duskbloods yet, but I don’t expect a break from tradition in this game.

The Switch 2 hardware has seen peer-to-peer networking, buggy netcode and exclusivity, throwing multiple red flags.

Can this game really deal with putting eight people in one lobby and allowing them to play everything with the same level of fluidity? I don’t know if I’ll buy it or not.

You never feel good to be scurried by someone you can’t hit effectively: the main conceit of duskbloods is that you always have the risk of jumping to other players. That’s not my idea of a good time.

Perhaps Nintendo and fromsoft can pull this off, making duskbloods one of the most admired games of all time. But I think I’ll stick to my cooperative adventures in Yharnam and the lands between.
