Bella Belen PVL Rookie Draft
Sunshine’s rays have come to Capital1 Solar Spikers. He chose Beravellen all over the board in the 2025 PVL Rookie Draft first, giving the team a real all-round player who also has charisma and star power.
Belem did not win the No. 1 pick on the usual photo opportunity as she glowed sadly under her professional mentor, Jorge Edson Soza des Burrito at the 2025 AVC Women’s Volleyball Nations Cup in Hanoi, Vietnam.
“I dreamed of becoming a longtime professional volleyball player,” Belem, who helped the Filipinos go 22-25, 25-23, 25-13 and 28-26 on Sunday at 55 Indonesia, said in a pre-recorded message at the Novotel Hotel in Cubao, Quezon City.
“Even if I’m not [in the country] I’m fighting for the flag and the national team so for tonight’s draft, I’m mentally there,” said the three-time UAAP champion and MVP.
Despite being a rookie, Belem is already weighing a lot on his shoulders, tasked with turning things around for a struggling solar spyker.
In the three meetings, Capital1 only placed 7th for the best finish, with a record of 7-24 overall.
“We are truly honored to receive our first draft pick. Bella is a generational talent, a game changer, and this is a new era for Capital1,” says team owner Mandy Romero.
“I’m very excited to play in the PVL and play in Capital 1,” Belem said. “It doesn’t seem to change anything from gold and blue to yellow and blue.”
