Conservative leader Kemi Badenok has been accused of her comments about net zero that would be “not possible” by 2050 as “on the pay of climate deniers.”
In a speech last month, Mrs. Badennock said that by 2050 it would not be possible “by no significant reduction in our standard of living, or by not letting us go bankrupt,” he abandoned the target that passed the target to her party.
Jenny Jones, entitled Baronet Jones of Mursecombe, a fellow Green Party member, insisted in Congress last Thursday that the policy change was dependent on climate-skeptical lobby groups and their contributions.
Lobbying activities
She said: “If you want to know where all the objections to NetZero come from, you have to chase after the money. The Tory leader has abandoned NetZero by 2050, as she is paying the salary of a climate denier on Tufton Street.
“She made an announcement shortly after receiving a donation from the Global Warming Policy Foundation and linked the linked pressure group, Net Zero Watch.
“At least four members of Chemibedenock’s Shadow Cabinet, including her Shadownet Zero Secretary Claire Coutinho, also received donations from group funders.”
Tufton Street is known for hosting a network of libertarian lobby groups and think tanks focused on issues such as Brexit and climate change policy.
Founded by former conservative Prime Minister Nigel Lawson, the Global Warming Policy Foundation is opposed to climate change policies such as Net Zero.
service
The Charitable Committee said last July that Net Zero Watch is a wholly trade subsidiary of the Global Warming Policy Foundation.
According to her profit registration, Mrs. Badennock received an estimated £14,530.38 from the chair Neil Record on Net Zero Watch in February this year.
This was done in the form of a workspace, accommodation and related hospitality offering for a series of work meetings in Gloucestershire with colleagues over six days, with Tory leaders’ families involved.
Mrs. Badennock also received a £10,000 donation from Mr Record in November last July in support of her leadership campaign and two other contributions.
These included commissioning of research services to an estimate of £5,175 and using a portion of private property for the storage of meetings and campaign materials for the estimate of £1,571.
Achievability
However, a spokesman for Ms. Burdennock revealed that there were no donations from the Global Warming Policy Foundation.
They stated:
“She came to that conclusion by studying the evidence, which tells everything about the fanatic green lobby that relies on fake smears, rather than facing these facts.
