Enthusiasm for Kamala Harris in Pennsylvania is reportedly spreading to rural and heavily Republican parts of the state.
Malcolm Kenyatta, a member of the House of Representatives and Democratic candidate for Auditor General, posted:
A woman I met in Clinton County yesterday pulled me aside and whispered, “You’re a beautiful woman.
“This is my first Democratic picnic. I’ve seen you on TV and I know you’ve been talking to Joe and Kamala.”
If Joe can find the courage to step down, I can help him do the same. Please pass on my thanks to them.”I’m not crying, you’re crying!

Because the presidential vote is so close in Pennsylvania, it is important to understand that Democrats are campaigning in rural, Republican areas of the state, not to topple them, but to attract Democrats in those rural, Republican areas and thereby increase the Democratic vote.
Joe Biden won Pennsylvania in 2020, largely due to boosting Democrat turnout in rural Republican areas and blunting Trump’s surge in the rural areas where Trump is most popular. Biden was able to counter Trump’s rural gains in Pennsylvania and win the state with voter turnout in Pennsylvania’s Democratic areas.
Trump doesn’t have another base of voters in the state. He has to win over rural Republicans. If what Rep. Kenyatta says is accurate, and other lawmakers on the tour agree, Trump’s problems in Pennsylvania could get worse.
