The legendary armor piece from Destiny 2 gets an archetype. This allows each armor to drop with its own stat spikes, identifying the type of armor the player needs to build. The entire statistical system has been reworked, which has a big impact on how each gear works. All armor was used to define how many statistical institutions a player could roll, so Bungee kept the overall interaction the same.
This increases the incentive for someone to chase the armor with the new expansion.
Readers will find details about each archetype of legendary armor pieces below.
The New Armor of Fate 2: The Edge of Fate
Along with the new layering system for armor pieces implemented in the core sandbox, each legendary armor has the following archetypes:
- Paragon: Super Primary, Proximity
- renadier: Grenade Primary, Super Secondary
- Specialists: Class Primary, Weapon Secondary
- brawler: Proximity primary, healthy and
- Bulwark: Health Primary, Class Secondary
- gunner: Weapon Primary, Secondary Hand-Ren Bullet
Each of these armor types prioritize certain statistics to have spikes based on their name. As mentioned in the list above, the “Hand Rena Bullet” archetype in the Armor Piece has the most statistical spikes on the Hand Rena Bullet, followed by a Super. In the case of Bulwark, it’s health, class, etc.
This is what the developers have officially said about the armor’s future archetypes.
“Each Armor 3.0 drop has a randomly selected armor archetype. Each of the six archetypes available will be thematic around a particular playstyle, determining the two best stats for each armor. Each armor will be rolled with a randomly selected tertiary (or lowest) stats from the remaining four stats.”
Note that the drop rates of certain types of armor can be further tweaked with ghost mods, as has always been the case. So, if a player wants to drop a piece of hand rena bullet, they can do so by equipping mods, running activities, or focusing on works from the vendor.
