Ola Electric Mobility has run into fresh trouble over the pricing of its electric scooters during the ongoing festive season, at a time when India’s largest electric two-wheeler is losing market share.
The government’s Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has sent an email to Ola Electric explaining how the company is selling the Ola S1 X 2kWh scooter for Rs 49,999, below the factory list price of Rs. I asked for it. 75,001 people are required to claim Rs 10,000 subsidy under PM E-Drive scheme.
“During the PM E-Drive certification under EMPS-2024, Ola has submitted a declaration to ARAI that there is no change in the specifications, factory price etc. of this model and based on this declaration, ARAI -Drive “Eligibility Certificate with matching subsidy of Rs 10,000 for model Ola S1 X 2 kWh,” the email dated October 8 said.
“We are aware that this model Ola S1 I am.
“As per EMPS-2024 and PM E-Drive Scheme operational guidelines, OEMs are required to notify if there is a change in the ex-factory price of an EV model after eligibility approval. [Electric] ARAI has not been notified of any price changes for model Ola S1 X 2 kWh. ”
NDTV Profit has seen a copy of the email.
Ola Electric did not respond to an email seeking comment on the matter. However, sources within the company said they believe the issue has been resolved. Discounts were given when stocks are limited. There was no change in price, they said.
