By the end of 2026, Apple will be able to source all iPhone routes for the US market from assembly facilities in India. Report from Financial Times.
The planned move opposes the background of the Trump administration, which has now been exempt from some products, such as mobile phones and computers, but is still imposing tariffs on China. Apple has long been centered around iPhone production in China, and is vulnerable to trade wars between the two countries, driving speculation that tariffs could mean rising prices for the company’s best-selling products.
Although India itself faces new tariffs, moving third-party rallies on US iPhones to India allows Apple to avoid the most important cost pressures of the trade war.
The company had started delivering iPhones already made in India and added product reserves before new tariffs became active.
