Chie Saet revealed how much the PVL All-Filipino Conference (AFC) Crown won her.
“I might retire soon, so I really hope we can win [AFC] The veteran playmaker said.
To make that dream come true, she and her Petrogaz team must pass through a dominant dynasty, with some underrated setters running the attack.
The Angels have booked tickets to the Championship Series, launching 25-22, 25-20, 25-28 victory over Akari Chargers behind Saet’s brilliance on Thursday.
“It feels very surreal,” said star hitter Brook Van Sickle.
Myla Pablo helped make it realistic, scoring 16 points featuring four off-blocks. Vansikle added 15 points on 14 attacks to get the fourth crack when the Angels won the championship without importing.
Petro Gazz both won two titles at the Enhancement Conference.
“The work isn’t finished yet,” Pablo said. “We have to focus on the final now.”
Standing as Petrogaz’s final obstacle is the Creamline cool smasher. Cream Line Cool Smasher punched tickets to another final by blanking 25-19, 25-15 and 25-15 in his second game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Like Petro Gazz, Creamline had an array of scorers to stop the sister team. They all worked well under the sharp playmaking of Kyle Negrito, who had an incredible set of 17.
“The way we think about this game helped us,” Negrito said after the match. “We knew that was what we were going to do. [game]and we played the only option: “Do it.” ”
The championship will begin next Tuesday with Creamline and Petrogaz titles as their fifth fight.
“We’re here now, so we’re going to work hard for it and do everything to get it done properly,” said Saet, 40, who made things like Van Sickle and Pablo shine.
“The coach gave me the opportunity to play, so I didn’t waste it,” Pablo said. “I’m also happy with the setter who trusts me and gives the court confidence.”
Vansikle guides the angel batsman against a deep roster of scorers at the Cream Line.
“They’re always the winners. They’re always in the finals, so I’m getting ready,” Van Eisle said.
Petro Gaz broke the Cream Line on his way to the semi-final round sweep, but Vansikle doesn’t have much stock.
“[W]E was lucky enough to get a win from them in the semi-finals, so we’ll see,” she said.
Bernadeth Pons led Creamline with 14 points, Tots Carlos added 13 and Alyssa Valdez tipped at 11.
And Valdez feels that the Creamline will be in the championship, with Vansikkul in particular filling the deck, despite Petro Gaz’s three previous attempts to win the All-Philippine crown.
“She’s in sync with the team now and we can see that she’s perfectly suited to their system,” Valdez said. “We are now facing a new challenge and are ready to take on it.” inq
