MANILA, Philippines – Alex Ira is still in Cloud9 after retracting the biggest victory of his youth career at the 2025 Miami Open.
Eala reached the Latvian French Open Champion Jelena Ostapenko, 7-6 (2), 7-5, Miami Open Round on Saturday (Manila time).

The 19-year-old Ira became the first Filipino netter to beat the top 30 players. Her stunning victory attracted the attention of tennis legend Rafael Nadal.

A graduate of Spain’s Rafael Nadal Academy, Ira continues her dream run with No. 5, governing the Australian Open Champion Madison Keys in the United States.

The Philippine tennis star, currently ranked 140th by the WTA, vows to keep his emotions in check as he will gear up to point his keys on Monday.
