Shortly after turning down acquisition offers from Jamaica’s Edufocal and One-on-one EdTech companies, AI-powered personalized school preparation app Study Smart won Kingston BETA’s Startup Stage in April.

It is led by founder Davia Bryan-Campbell, a trained teacher with over 10 years of education and curriculum experience and deep roots in a network of teachers and schools across Jamaica.
Her six-month-old edtech startup, StudySmart App, already has product-market fit.
- – Uses AI integration for personalized learning, more questions are provided based on students’ weak areas.
- – Fully aligned with the Jamaican National School Curriculum: all topics, units and exam types are covered, including curriculum-based and performance tasks.
User benefits
- – Get data on completed questions, topics and subjects.
- – Evaluate charts and chats showing school or class data
- – Principals can generate reports that help them deliver support to their students.
- The StudySmart app was awarded JMD$300,000 by Kingston BETA’s partner, the Development Bank of Jamaica.
Additionally, they will have access to SiliconCaribe’s network of mentors, accelerator partners and investors across the Caribbean and the US.

We also had two fantastic co-hosts, Stacey Hines, CEO of Epic Transformation, and Bianca Welds, Innovation Specialist, who served as the event host and panel moderator.
Our panel shared data, insights and on-the-ground experiences for 45 minutes, aligned with the event’s theme, “SheLEadsTech: Women Driving Innovation and Investment.”
