LOS ANGELES (Celebrity Access) – Three months after postponing their Peace Out Farewell Tour, Aerosmith The band has officially announced their retirement from touring due to frontman Steven Tyler’s vocal cord injuries.
The boys in the band Tyler, Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Brad Whitford and Tom Hamiltonshared the news in a social media post on Friday (August 2), saying the decision “It’s difficult, but it’s necessary” The 76-year-old Tyler has never fully recovered from a vocal cord injury. “Stephen’s voice is an instrument like no other.” The statement reads: “He has worked tirelessly for months to regain the voice he had before his injury and, despite having the best medical team at his side, we have watched him struggle. Sadly, it is clear that he will never fully recover from his vocal injuries.”

Aerosmith’s Peace Out Farewell Tour kicked off in Philadelphia in September 2023 to much positive reviews. Despite a strong start, the tour came to an abrupt end when Tyler fractured his larynx during a New York performance. Revealing the injury to his vocal cords, Tyler said: “I am very sorry to say that I have been under strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next 30 days. I damaged my vocal cords during Saturday’s performance and have since suffered bleeding.” His injury has caused the band to postpone their remaining dates in 2023. The band was scheduled to resume touring in 2024, playing 40 dates, beginning on September 20 in Pittsburgh and ending on February 26 in Buffalo, 2025.
In a statement, Aerosmith reflected on their journey and expressed gratitude to their fans. “In 1970, a spark of inspiration gave birth to Aerosmith. Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark ignited and has continued to burn for more than 50 years. Some of you have been with us from the beginning, and because of you, we made rock and roll history.”
“It has been the honor of our lives to have our music be a part of yours. You have given us a place in the soundtrack of our lives – in every club, on every major tour, in big and private moments. We have always wanted to amaze you with our performances. Sadly, it is clear that Steven will not be able to fully recover from his vocal cord injuries. We, as a band of brothers, have made the heartbreaking, difficult but necessary decision to retire from the touring stage.
“One last time, we’re overwhelmed with gratitude to all of you who were excited to hit the road with us. Thank you to our skilled crew, incredible team, and the thousands of talented people who made our historic tour possible. And finally, thank you to the best fans on the planet.
