Following a rapid assessment of spider biodiversity in South Africa’s arid western interior, we report on the occurrence of a new, little-known species of the chrysilline jumping spider. Heraphricanus patella (Simon, 1901), heliocapensis capensis (Wesołowska, 1986), H. Mirabilis (Wesowowska, 1986) and menemelas Lecerti Lawrence, 1927 was first recorded in the Northern Cape; heliocapensis multi (Wesołowska & Haddad, 2014) (Lesotho) Heliophanus transform Wesołowska, 1986 (Angola) was first recorded in South Africa, and both were recorded in the Northern Cape. Women who were previously unknown heliocapensis Mirabilis (Wesowowska, 1986) and Itius Purcellus Male with Haddad and Wesołowska, 2011. M. Lecerti explained for the first time. Three new species have been described. Itius jackson sp. november (♂)、 menemelas hoodie sp. november (♂) and Natta triguttata sp. november (♂♀). One new combination afrafrasilla mataberensis (Wesołowska, 2011), comb. november (former pseudicius Simon, 1885) has been proposed. We present the first comprehensive molecular analysis for South Africa. Crisillini Jumping spider, based on cytochrome oxidase I (COI) gene. Supports monophyly for all genera except 2 (Heraphricanus Wesowowska, 1986 and Heliophanus CL Koch, 1833).
Many thanks to Dr. Charles Haddad for sharing this recent paper with me.
