Starting today at the edge of the Galaxy at Disneyland, Star Wars Fans can meet Master Luke Skywalker at Batuo. His arrival was the latest evolution of the theme park Canon, once restricted to that period. Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
That original timeline change took place over the past few years as numbers from the Disney+Lucasfilm show appeared on Batu and via Ahsoka, Bobafett, Fennecchand, Sabinelen and Hera. And of course, The Mandalorian and Grog have a huge presence in the park due to fan demand for characters outside the sequel trilogy.
IO9 took part in opening the Force 2025 season today – Disneyland’s annual Star Wars The celebration, which runs until May 11th, spoke with Matt Martin of Lucasfilm and Michael Serna of Disney Live Entertainment, to discuss how the Black Spire Outspost story evolves from here.
“We see all lands and experiences as evolution,” Cerna shared. “Some things go back and forth, they show openness, they come and go, so of course the edge of the Galaxy is on the same journey. [it] When I evolved and built Galaxy’s Edge, I didn’t even know that some of these stories would be told. So, over time, we realized that there are people who don’t love the Mandaloria stories, and who don’t love the various different stories. So this is an opportunity to lean towards those stories that our fans know to love and admire while not separating from what we’ve done before. You may see what you love, and sometimes you may not. Our goal is to reach as many fans as possible and provide all the amazing characters and experiences people expect from our park. ”
This shift will become more clearer this year, and it all starts with Tohan Reju, a lore weaver. Originally, with a specifically embodied voice telling the stories of real heroes and villains within the land, this year he joins the trustworthy R1 series astromethidroid bards by illuminating the spires with projections of their history in “Shadow of Memory: Skywalker Saga.”
Lucasfilm worked with the park to create him, appearing as something like a fire. “Now we have him as the center of the “shadow of memory.” And it’s so perfect that someone is there to tell the mythical story of Skywalker’s story. Star Wars It’s like a modern myth in itself,” Martin said. And hopefully we can continue to use that character as a storyteller for years, both in the park and elsewhere. Star Wars story. ”
This is key to opening stories told within the land and characters that may pop up in the future Star Wars Canon and Cerna confirmed. “Star Wars There are so many stories to tell. Matt and I had a lot of discussion about how to introduce something like a fire-like memory. [in] Fireworks show. We had this idea that storytellers were the universal thing that happened at the beginning. [humankind]. It’s our lifestyle. We gather around the fire and tell stories. That’s how we conveyed history and myths. why Star Wars different? There are probably people who want to gather these stories together and pass them on to future generations. ”
I can’t wait to see the other stories heading towards the park. In addition to Luke Skywalker’s master, we witnessed making his first spectacular entrance this afternoon.
Regarding the changes that will come to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Matches next year’s big screen release The Mandalorian and the Grog– Well, Disney still continues to wrap around it very much. “I mean, I don’t really talk about it,” teased Serna. “We don’t have much to tell us yet. We can’t really talk about it except what we learned at South by Southwest.”
Martin added: Millennium Falcon. So we’re going to learn how we end up Millennium Falcon In an age when Han Solo owned the ship. That should be quite fun. But if not, I think you’ll have to wait and see. ”
Also asked one of Florida’s outstanding charms that was shuttered right now Star Wars: Galactic Star Cruiser You may be coming to Batuu, such as Lightsaber Experience or our beloved Gaya dinner show.
Cerna said, “I think we’re constantly growing and doing new things. You’ll never know.”
Asked if we should be optimistic, Martin said, “We’ve learned a lot from a storytelling perspective. I think the lessons we’ve learned will always inform the future.”
