“My paintings are a map of place and language textures and layered memories, marking traces of living anthropology.”

explanation: “Away from home” He presents his work in terms of landscapes that transcend a single “home” that is constantly evolved and shaped by memory, movement and human connections. Since 1999, Parla has visited Japan many times and is deeply influenced by its climate and cultural style.
Exhibition at Pola Museum Annex We present a special selection of special works, including Bizen Pottery created during our residency at the kiln, collaborations with Japanese artists and fashion designers, and 18 artworks, including new, large-scale paintings themed around Tokyo. The exhibition highlights how para’s representation is shaped by a variety of factors, including travel, urban encounters, collaborations, historical events, memories, and emotions.
Kotaro NukagaThe exhibition features new paintings inspired by Parlá’s time travel and collaborations he did in Japan. For Parla, who has experienced many aspects of Japanese cities and has bonded with friends and artists, the new work is “a moment that enriches my friend and my artistic journey.”
