This guide was created by scouring past Bluetooth speaker reviews from Mashable staff and freelancers and testing new speakers specifically for this article.
When testing speakers, we consider brand authenticity, sound quality across genres, battery life, companion apps and the features they offer, and user reviews. We consider all of these factors to determine whether a speaker’s price is commensurate with its feature set, especially in relation to competitive products. If possible, compare the speaker’s sound to other models in its price range.
The audio market is huge, so we regularly test products and update this guide to give you the best possible recommendations. of Ultimate Years Wonderboom 4 are recent additions to our roster, followed by Sony ULT Field 1 with speaker JBL Go 4 speaker.
Earlier this year, we updated our recommendations to include: JBL Clip 4 and Ultimate Years Wonderboom 3 (Before the release of Wonderboom 4).
In September 2024, ultimate ear everboom speaker. I like that I can turn up the volume without sacrificing clarity. We also found that its size is perfect for hosting parties indoors or in the backyard. Additionally, the Podcast mode sounded much better than the Wonderboom 4. However, its size was unwieldy and large for carrying around on the go, and it didn’t have many additional features other than some EQ settings. In the end, it just didn’t sound as good as you’d expect from a $250 speaker. Therefore, it was not selected for the final selection.
Previously, we tested portable speakers such as: Sonos Roam, Sonos works, JBL flip 6,and bose soundlink flex. From March 2024 onwards, JBL Go 2 It was removed from our guide due to low availability (and only a month after we considered it our favorite speaker under $40). Also, in March, Sonos works New and recommended Sonos Move 2. Finally, we removed the only speaker from our list that we haven’t field-tested.
