I didn’t see any drama surrounding his contributions to St. Clair and Ohio State. He signed a contract in June 2023 and has been solid since then. What has changed is St. Clair’s hiring profile. He made a meteoric rise to become Rivals250’s No. 1 player after impressing in multiple events.
St. Clair University was driven by the fact that Ohio State had never previously signed a quarterback from near campus. He has unique skills that are hard to match for Buckeyes these days. He has a great physique, but he’s a better athlete than people realize. But he’s a very smooth, natural passer and can make all the throws.
The Buckeyes typically select quarterbacks in specific recruiting classes. St. Clair is coached by coach Ryan Day, and he picked well.
St. Clair isn’t just the highest-rated player in another elite recruiting class headed to Columbus. He is the face of the class and will be the leader of his group of peers the day he steps on campus for bowl practice. That’s because one of the negative aspects of a signal caller is his attitude and work ethic.
He has exactly the same mindset that the coaching staff hopes to mirror in the rest of the locker room. That’s extremely valuable in today’s college football world. Especially when combined with the high ceiling of the sky as a player.
