Caribbean author (TCW) The 11th iteration of VI Lit Fest will be held on April 13, 2025 at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) and the Virgin Islands Literary Festival and Book Fair, LLC (VI Lit Fest). Community-centric theme – “Possibility: Beyond tradition, inside courage” – TCW. This event honors the memories of the late Elizabeth Nunes (1944-2025) and Velma Pollard (1937-2025).
Some of the prominent authors seeking to participate in the discussion are Merle Collins, Enrique “Rico” Corneiro, Patricia Harkins-Pierre, Iris Mwanza, Devon Pelle, and Mervelle A. Sage. Here is an excerpt from their BIOS. Please see more USVI Light Fest.
Merule Collins (above) is a Grenadian poet, novelist, and short story writer. In 2008, she went to the Washington metropolitan area and community organization Carivision Community Theatre, Inc. We founded (Carivision). Her 2023 novel, Sea stirring (Titled “A Work of Fiction in Respect to Malcolm X, the mother of seven brothers and activist Louise Langdon Norton Little,” it was a finalist for the 2024 Orwell Awards Political Fiction Award.
Enrique “Rico” Corneiro He was born and raised in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands (USVI). He is the author of Black and white Danish West Indies, Virgin Rescue: A Guide to Sports Collectibles in the Virgin Islandsand I was born here: My Virgin Islands Family Story.
Patricia Harkins Pierre The author of Cadesha and flying squirrel. Patricia lives in St. Thomas, USVI.
Iris Mwanza Zambian-American author, lawyer and advocate for gender equality. She is the author of the novel Lions Den.
Devon Pele Inspired by writing graphic novels as a second-year English and art student at the University of the Virgin Islands A fatal pulse From his desire to see the story he wanted.
Mervelle A. Sage Born and raised in St. Croix, USVI, he currently lives in Spring Hill, Florida. Included in her book Cinnamon Soul Coast, Hanging with Uncle Eddie (books for children), Carambola (Poetry), Altoro sleeps (a children’s book co-authored with his son Elijah A. Harmatt), and Karanbora’s passion (Poetry). She is a co-author Anthology of Passion and Purpose: 21 Inspiring Stories of Women in the US Virgin Islands.
