The 2025 MLB Playoff Schedule is here before you know it. Wildcard rounds will begin playing around September 29th, 2025. The opening round of play is the best three game playoffs that take place for three consecutive days. The first team to win two games will move on to play in the divisional round. The 2025 World Series will begin on or around Friday, October 24th, 2025.

How many MLB teams are there to make the 2025 playoffs?
Just like the past few seasons, 12 teams will win spots in the 2025 MLB postseason. MLB expanded the playoffs to the format seen today in 2022. Three division winners and three wildcard teams have earned the spot this year in honor from both the US and the National League.

Keep in mind that October will take a hot minute to get here. MLB reserves the right to adjust if the date/time/broadcast network is deemed appropriate. All dates in the included schedule are based on the 2024 MLB Playoff Schedule until confirmed by the league.
Wild Card Series (Best of 3 Games): September F29 – October 1, 2025
Division Series (Best of 5): October 3rd to 10th.
Championship Series (Best of 7): October 12th-21st.
World Series schedule (Best of 7): October 24th, November 1st.

How many rounds will it be in the 2025 MLB Playoffs?
The 2025 MLB Playoffs will have four rounds of play. Each round is a series between two teams playing the “Best of” single elimination format matchup. The number of games goes deeper into the playoffs we go to. The Wild Card Round is the “Best 3” game series, while the ALCS/NLC and the World Series are the “Best 5” issues.
How does the MLB Wildcard series work?
First, MLB uses this seed format for both the US and the National League. The number one seed in each league has the highest record period. #2 seed has the second best record and is the division winner. #3 seed is the third best record for the Division winner. #4, #5 and #6 seeds are the best non-division winners. Then in the wildcard series, #3 plays #6 and #4 plays #5. There are no holidays or trips to play the wildcard round. High seeds host up to three games.
How is the advantage of the home field in the World Series determined?
Teams with the best regular season records will earn a World Series home field advantage. Host your first game regardless of seed. If there is Game 7, it will also play on their field. If both teams have the same regular season record, then standard MLB The tiebreaker ruleset for the department is used to determine who has the advantage.
How do tiebreakers in the MLB department work?
With the MLB playoff format change, there is no longer a chance that the 163rd game will decide a tiebreaker. Instead, MLB first uses two teams’ headhead records. If they are still tied, the following metrics are used: Record against other teams in the division and against other teams in the league, but outside of the division. Then the last half of the int-league game was recorded. It sounds easy, right?

The brackets are in PDF format and can be filled in to predict potential playoffs in the postseason. I’ll update it with the 2025 bracket if I get a little more info from MLB on the date.
