Well Health, The digital health company, which integrates and updates clinical and digital assets, announced its approval of Health Compass II, a $44 million project funded by the Canadian government to continue enhancing AI and interoperability in healthcare.
This initiative aims to improve the efficiency of management operations. Four AI-driven modules will be integrated into a provider mobile app to enhance clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes.
The project aims to reduce delivery costs and increase patient satisfaction within two years.
WELL Health, which will serve as the lead commercialization partner on the project, will receive $15.3 million in funding from DIGITAL to support R&D and commercialization investments. WELL will also provide expertise to other consortium partners to help develop new AU tools to support healthcare providers and improve patient outcomes.
This funding round marks Health Compass II’s largest DIGITAL project to date, with DIGITAL funding more than one-third of the total project costs over four years.
The project components are:
-
HEALWELL AI’s Decision Compass is a clinical decision support module that identifies early diagnosis of rare and complex diseases.
-
ORX’s Patient Compass is a patient-facing virtual agent module that improves patient engagement.
-
Phelix’s SMART Inbox is an automation module that leverages AI to streamline administrative tasks and reduce manual admin work.
-
Tali voice assistant is an AI assistant that uses sensing technology to obtain medically significant information from conversations.
“This is a monumental milestone and we are honored and grateful for DIGITAL and Minister Champagne’s office’s commitment to supporting healthcare innovation and responsible AI research,” Hamed Shahbazi, WELL chief operating officer and founder, said in a statement.
“At WELL, we are committed to leveraging technology to empower healthcare workers and reduce burnout by equipping them with responsible AI and other tools to deliver quality care and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
