“I wanted to be a part of it and it brings out the best in me.”
Tiafoe added: “I’m literally just taking each day as it comes. It’s a Grand Slam, it’s two weeks, there’s a lot going on.”
“You can’t get ahead of yourself and think about what’s going to happen or how things are. Everyone is so good that it doesn’t really matter who’s going to be there or who’s not.”
Bulgaria’s Dimitrov beat off an upset attempt by sixth-seeded Andrey Rublev to reach the U.S. Open quarterfinals for the first time since 2019.
Navarro She reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the second time in her career and her first at the U.S. Open, defeating defending champion Coco Gauff.
“This is the city where I was born, so it’s very special to be able to play here,” Navarro said.
