President Donald Trump Project Stargate is at least $500 billion in investment to build the physical and virtual infrastructure for AI construction and is considering investing overseas. Report by Financial Times.
The project that Trump announced in January along with three partners: Oracle’s Chief Technology Officer Larry Ellison, Openai CEO Sam Altman and Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son are considering expanding internationally, with the country of choice being the UK. According to the era, Germany and France are also attractive candidates.
When it was announced, Stargate was promoted as a project designed to boost the American AI industry. The Times reports that the project focuses on improving the US AI infrastructure, but if the project is successful, future investments in the UK are considered part of international expansion.

Ellison said the data center is under construction and the first location is in Abilene, Texas. Ten buildings were built, each weighing 500,000 square feet. Oracle’s CTO said the number will expand to 20 buildings and beyond Abilene.
At the time of the announcement, Trump, Altman, Ellison and his son said one of Stargate’s goals is to improve health outcomes and cure illness, according to Altman.
Ellison said the cancer vaccine is one of the “most exciting” things the group is working on using the tools offered by Altman and Son.
At the time, Trump said the project would create more than 100,000 American jobs almost instantly, secure US AI infrastructure, and compete with China and others in the field, where technology is rapidly advancing.
still, Experts say Trump’s tariffs could curb data center development as construction relies heavily on materials such as steel and aluminum. There are also concerns that tariffs will affect the supply chains that support the semiconductor industry.
