Three predictions: Offensive coordinator, Michigan flip target, Iowa State.
Rivals National Recruiting Director greg smith Here are two Big Ten programs that may be looking for a new offensive coordinator, a flip target for Michigan State, and three predictions on how. iowa It will end the season.
1. Michigan, Nebraska are looking for new offensive coordinators
It’s almost time for coaching hot seats to start getting warmer across the country. Usually we’re very focused on what that means for the head coach. There’s been some buzz around the country about this, but in Big Ten country, it’s been laser-pointed at offensive coordinators at several big-name programs.
Last year’s national champion, the University of Michigan, had major problems at quarterback all year. It’s still a mystery how the QB rotation has changed since the team acquired JJ McCarthy with a first-round pick this season. It was a failure of recruitment, the transfer portal, and the NIL. But along with that, the Wolverines’ passing game was poor overall. The team has attempted just 210 passes this season, third-fewest in the league. Michigan is averaging 134 passing yards per game, which is not only a criticism of the quarterback, but also of the pass catchers and their schemes. The Wolverines need to act quickly to inject some life into that side of the ball.
meanwhile, nebraska They made a successful quarterback hire last offseason, acquiring five-star forward Dylan Raiola. We didn’t expect them to look like peyton manningSoon the Indianapolis Colts. But Husker fans have seen the offense take a major step back all season. Nebraska averages 23.6 points per game. But the most damning statistic is that coach matt rule Nebraska has yet to win a game in which its defense has allowed more than 14 points. I would argue that the bye week the team is currently having is the perfect time to at least make some play-calling changes. Marcus Satterfield.
Barring a major change in Lincoln, many teams will be looking to see if several players like Dylan Raiola, Carter Nelson and JaCorey Burney enter the portal.

2. Elijah Dotson flies to Michigan before signing day.
There’s another big-time flip target who shouldn’t get lost in the shuffle, not five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood. They also happen to be teammates. Defensive back Elijah Dotson is working on this: pit Since May. The Panthers believed in him early on, and Dotson appreciates that. But Michigan State has made a strong push for him as it ramps up its recruiting efforts for a number of prospects.
The Wolverines took Dotson on an official visit in preparation for the matchup against Oregon. Officials said the visit went well. Dotson very much welcomes the Wolverines’ step up. Dotson is a low-key guy so it might end quietly, but I believe the Wolverines traded him before the early signing period.

3. Iowa wins…but falls just short of the playoffs.
No one weathers the ebbs and flows of a long season better than you. iowa‘s kirk ferentz. The team looked pretty bad (offensively) at times this year. But now, thanks to 19 rushing touchdowns along with running back Caleb Johnson and quarterback Brenden Sullivan, the offense appears to be energized. The story with Iowa State has always been whether the offense can hold up well because the defense and special teams are always lights out.
Now that the offense is stabilizing, there is a clear path for Iowa to win the rest of the season. They are currently on a two-game winning streak after defeating Northwestern University and the University of Wisconsin. The next three games will be University of California Los Angelesin maryland They will then play at home against rival Nebraska.
The Hawkeyes would be favored to win all three of these games.
I let them win each game, but that big loss cost them a chance in the expansion playoffs. michigan. It will ultimately be a season of “what ifs” in Iowa City.
