A successful technology entrepreneur and dedicated public servant, Ms. Tlaib entered politics as a senior official in various federal departments from 2002 to 2007, including helping to found the Intercultural Roundtable on Security. During her tenure, she served as special advisor to Senator Bob Rae and was appointed executive director of the investigation into the 2005 Air India Flight 182 bombing.
In 2007, Tlaib joined the Organizing Committee of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, serving as Vice President of Strategy and Partnerships.
After the Olympics, he returned to the technology sector, starting and leading world-class, innovative companies that create jobs in Canada and around the world. A sought-after technology expert, Tlaib also advises start-ups across North America.
Tlaib has deep roots in Vancouver and a proven track record of community service: from founding a mentorship program for troubled youth at Vancouver’s Covenant House to serving on the institution’s board and on the board of Lions Gate Hospital, Tlaib is a tireless advocate for those who need it most.
In recognition of his volunteer work and work on community development, he received the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award in 2007 and the Queen Elizabeth II 60th Anniversary Medal in 2013.
Tlaib holds a BA in International Education Policy from Harvard University, a Bachelor of Arts in International Education from Princeton University, and completed her doctoral studies at Oxford University as a Commonwealth Scholar.
He currently serves on the Standing Committee on Public Safety, the Standing Committee on National Security, the Standing Joint Committee on Regulatory Review and is the Chair of the Pacific Caucus. Tlaib Noormohamed continues to work hard on behalf of the residents of Vancouver Granville, a vibrant, diverse and rapidly growing community.
