Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.)’s response Sunday morning made it clear that the panic in Congress over Biden’s presidency may be nearing an end.

When asked by CNN’s Dana Bash if he thought Biden could become like Trump, Murphy replied:
Oh, absolutely. I think the president needs to answer the voters’ questions. If he does this week, I think he’ll be in a very good position and get back to the contrast that we need in this race between Joe Biden, a decent, upstanding person, and Donald Trump, a pathological liar who is being touted as supporting and wanting to mainstream political violence in this country. But again, if the president is unwilling to do what it takes to restore voters’ trust and answer voters’ questions, then of course, a decision needs to be made about what is the best path forward for the country. But if the president answers those questions this week, I have no doubt that he can win this race.

By voters, Murphy means Democrats who polled after the debate said they thought Biden was too old to do his job. Biden’s problem isn’t with the electorate as a whole, but with frightened Democrats in Congress fueling the panic and frightening their own voters.
Biden will have two campaign events and a press conference in Pennsylvania this week, but that shouldn’t be the end of it. Trump is not campaigning. The Biden campaign needs its candidate to hold many events and get in front of voters. Biden needs to do campaign stops, interviews, and town hall meetings. President Biden has a chance to outdo Trump in his efforts, and if he does that, he will not only reassure voters and Democrats, but he will also be in a great position to win.
