Life is getting crazier by the day, but that doesn’t mean you need to take shortcuts to eat healthy. I believe that one of the easiest and cheapest ways to put dinner on the table is sausage and pasta. Add all-purpose sauce and vegetables to make it a one-dish dish. Your home-cooked meal will be on your table within 45 minutes.
What I like even more is that I can quickly change the recipe to something completely different. With egg noodles and Polish sausage, you’ll never know it’s the same recipe. Do you understand what I mean?
What kind of pasta is Italian sausage pasta?
The truth is, you can use whatever you have in your pantry. my preference is Penne Pasta is not that messy, so spaghetti. noodles Another favorite of mine, fettuccini It’s at the top of the list.
corkscrew pasta This is also the style of holding the sauce like a pro. But feel free to use whatever you like. No stress here.
Ingredient list
- pasta – The delicious base for this pasta dish will quell hunger pangs and keep your family happy.
- cooking oil – Nothing beats the Mediterranean feel of olive oil and butter. The taste is incredibly delicious.
- sausage – Italian sausage (mild or hot) is a meaty, spicy protein that makes this dish so delicious.
- flavor – Onions, thyme, cajun seasoning, italian seasoningred pepper flakes, and garlic transform blandness into pure excitement.
- sauce – Make a classic sauce with tomato paste, fresh Roma tomatoes (not too juicy, so good for sauces), bell peppers, and chicken broth.
- garnish – Fresh basil leaves make a gorgeous garnish. However, it also works well when served with pesto.
How to make sausage and pasta
Preparation ingredients
- pasta – Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook pasta until al dente according to package directions. It will be reheated when assembling, so it should be a little raw and firm. Drain the pasta and reserve 2 cups of water. Let’s set it aside.
- sausage – Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the sausages in the pan and brown on both sides, moving and turning them periodically to brown evenly (2 to 4 minutes). (Photos 1-2)
- boil – Gently pour about 1/3 cup of the reserved pasta water into the pan to prevent the sausage from sticking to the pan and burning. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until almost cooked through. Sausage is cooked together with pasta.
- slice – Remove the sausage from the pan, place on a cutting board and slice into bite-sized pieces. Let’s set it aside.
- prep bread – Drain any excess liquid from the pan and reserve with the sausage. Let the pot dry.
- seasoning – Melt the butter. Add onion, thyme, Creole seasoning, Italian seasoning, and chile flakes. Sprinkle with a little salt and fry for 2-3 minutes. (Photo 3-4)
- sauce – Add the garlic and tomato paste and continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly. (Photo 5-6)
- tomato – Add the diced tomatoes and continue cooking. If the pan is too dry, add a little water. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes. (Photos 7-8)
assembly
- sausage – Return the sausage and its juices to the skillet, then add the peppers. (Photos 9-12)
- sauce – Add the soup and cook for 5-7 minutes or until the sausage is cooked and the sauce has thickened. Season lightly with salt and pepper. (Photo 13)
- pasta – Add the pasta and mix well to coat all the pasta with the sauce, adding the reserved pasta water as needed. Reduce heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Adjust the seasonings to your liking. (Photo 14)
- garnish Serve immediately with basil (or baby spinach) pasta. enjoy!

How to prepare and store
This recipe will be even tastier the next day. If you want to make it for a holiday meal and save yourself the hassle on the day, it’s best to make it the night before. Reheat gently in a large pot, adding a cup or two of chicken broth if it’s too dry.
Yes, it can be frozen. Store in an airtight freezer container for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight, then heat in a saucepan when ready. If it’s too dry, add a little chicken broth.
