The San Diego Padres are acquiring right-handed relief pitcher Jason Adam from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for three prospects, multiple media outlets reported Sunday morning.
The Rays will reportedly acquire right-handed pitcher Dylan Lesko, outfielder Homer Bush Jr. and catcher J.D. Gonzalez. MLB.com ranked Lesko, Bush and Gonzalez as the Padres’ No. 3, No. 8 and No. 12 prospects, respectively.
The 32-year-old Adam is 4-2 with four saves and a 2.49 ERA in 47 relief appearances this season. In 249 career relief appearances, he is 16-11 with 24 saves and a 3.07 ERA with the Kansas City Royals (2018), Toronto Blue Jays (2019), Chicago Cubs (2020-21) and Rays.
Lesko, 20, was the 15th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft. He has posted a 1-9 record with a 6.46 ERA in 16 games (all starts) with High-A Fort Wayne.
The 22-year-old Bush also plays for the TinCaps, appearing in 86 games and batting .272 with four home runs and 17 RBIs.
The 18-year-old Gonzalez is batting .205 with 31 RBIs in 48 games with Single-A Lake Elsinore.
