After confirming their participation in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final, South Africa are all set to welcome Pakistan once again. Shan Massoud’s side put up a spirited battle against the Proteas in the first Test, but the Proteas went over the ropes thanks to a match-winning partnership between Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen.
The second Test will be held in Cape Town, the city that has hosted the most Tests in South Africa (60). Pakistan will be wary of the fact that they have not beaten South Africa even once in their last four matches. In fact, this is the same ground where the famous low-scoring incident between South Africa and India took place in January 2024.

Cape Town, Newlands Pitch Report
Heaven for pacers! That’s what India got in the last match, where they bundled out South Africa for just 55 runs in the first innings. To be honest, the wicket here was very bad and the batsmen didn’t have a chance to build an innings.
The pitch curator may prepare something to compensate, but the pacer should still be a big “test” for the top batsmen. Accurate pitch reports will be broadcast live just before the live action of the second and final Test of the series.
Newlands, Cape Town, the final test

The last time Newlands hosted a Test match, the ICC rated the pitch as “unsatisfactory”. The match was over within two days of cricket, with a total of 464 runs scored in four innings, or 116 runs per innings.
Mohammad Siraj’s 6/15 shocked SA who posted 55/10. In response, India were in the lead until they lost 6 wickets and went scoreless! It collapsed from 153/4 to 153/10.
In response, Aiden Markram scored a brilliant goal and gave something to the South African side. Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten for India as they easily chased down a total of 79 runs.
