Martin Nekas scored twice in a three-point game, and Kale McCar gathered one goal and one assist to bring the visiting Colorado Avalanche 4-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Thursday.
Artturi Lehkonen also scored in the avalanche, with Nathan Mackinnon gathering three assists and returning to the league’s point scoring race with 83.
Goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood made 27 saves for Colorado. This earned three of the four games overall and defeated the flames six times.
Jonathan Hooverdor and Rasmus Anderson scored for the flames. Dustin Wolf stopped 30 shots.
Huberdeau opened up a power play score when he spotted the mark on a point shot.
Makar ran with the avalanche turned off as he tied the game into a second period of 80 seconds. He used his sales to score the 20th goal of the season.
Reconen placed Colorado first at 5:34 of the frame when he shoved the loose pack into the house to finish the dominant shift in the Calgary Zone.
Necas gave the avalanche a two-goal edge by deflecting McKinnon’s shot with a remaining power play goal of 17.8 seconds in the second term. Colorado gained a 17-4 shot advantage during this period.
Necas extended their lead to 4-1 in a breakaway tally at 12:53 in the third term. It essentially destroyed Calgary’s chances for a comeback.
Anderson closed the score with a sharp stitch shot from rushing with 1:46 left.
