Jamaican beef patty. Spicy, flavorful beef packed in surprisingly simple buttery dough. They quickly gather and jump out of the table even faster. Simply tasty and comfortable food!

Making your own pastries is intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. Trust me, if you have a food processor, it’s easy. And even if you don’t, you need to sacrifice a few more minutes.

What do you like about Jamaican meat pate? They are the real MVPs of all meat pies as they can be snacked anytime. What’s more, saying no to these merchandise is not possible, especially with flake buttery crusts and delicious meat stuffings. Just talking about it makes me drool.

Spoiler alert: It’s spicy, tasty and very addictive! 😋

Spicy Jamaican Beef Patty Recipe

The Jamaican meat pate is a beautiful yellow with turmeric and creamy butter. The spicy beef stuffing is enjoyed with curry powder, cumin, garlic, onions, hot peppers, allspice, thyme, paprika and curry. If you’re a hot person, add stuffed scotch bonnet pepper to your filling.

How to make Jamaican beef pate

Create a decadent crust
Roll out dough ready to fill

Create the crust

  • mix Mix flour, salt, sugar and turmeric thoroughly in a food processor or by hand. Add butter to shorten it, then combine vinegar and water with a small amount of pulses until it pulsates, then combine the dough into a bowl. (Photo 1-4)
  • roll – Place the fabric on a well decorated surface. Split it evenly into two parts and unfold it. (Photo 5-6)
  • shape – Using a large 4-5 inch mouth glass or bowl, gently press and release the dough to form the meat pate dough and cut out circles. Continue cutting out the circle until everything is cut. (Photos 7-8)
  • Chill – Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or until ready to use.

Make the filling

  • Saute – Add 2 tablespoons of oil to the pan and add onion, garlic, paprika, thyme curry, chili powder, white pepper, allspice and chicken broth. Fry for about 2 minutes. (Photos 9-11)
  • Ground beef – Add meat and breadcrumbs and continue cooking for more than 10 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning. Then add about ½ cup of water. (Photo 12)
  • Adjust the flavor – Finally, add green onions and parsley and adjust the salt and pepper seasonings. (Photo 13-14)

Variations of recipes

  1. Tomato sauce – Add a sweet, tangy flavored base to the meat stuffing.
  2. Add vegetables – You can’t make a mistake with diced peppers, carrots, potatoes, green beans and corn.
  3. Meat swap – You can also use your favorite meat, such as chicken or pork, and use a lighter flavored, delicious pate. If you want a healthier option, try all the average stuffings with carrots, peas, potatoes and more.
  4. Cheap beef pate – Add your favorite cheeses like cheddar, mozzarella, and gruère to your filling to enjoy a charming cheese pull.

Tips and notes

  1. Keep the dough as cold as possible, make it simple and make a soft fragile butter dough.
  2. Avoid overtreating the dough so that the butter doesn’t completely melt into the dough.
  3. Freeze the remaining meat mixture and use it at a different time.

Makeup and storage instructions

Frozen Jamaican beef patty makes a quick and easy snack. Assemble them and freeze them on a single layer of baking sheet. After they freeze for about an hour, store in a ziplock bag in the freezer until craving strikes. Frozen the pate in the oven at 375°C/190°C and bake for about 30 minutes.
